    Pros +

    • The staff, the rooms, coffee in the rooms, the onsen, the spa was incredible!
    • The entire hotel had a tatami floor. Amazingly clean and comfortable. Onsen was very good too.
    • Location is near the station and tourist spots. There is free pick up, Free ramen at nighttime, free drink sometimes. Like the Japanese staffs .

    Cons -

    • Absolutely nothing. It was incredible. The only thing that could be offered would be an option or two for a more western breakfast but we loved how authentic it all was.
    • The food whilst presented very well was a bit below my expectations. If I had to be critical.
    • Some Foreign staffs at the front desk, their manner can not compare to Japanese staffs. I felt not happy. Food is just ok.

Loved the Japanese rooms and onsens. 3 private onsen open 24 hrs plus the communal one. Great location, close to station with the Sake Museum, conbini, and たくさん日本酒の店はあります。Staff is friendly. It’s a Dormy Inn; I love them if I have to stay in a hotel.

One very minor thing. It said you’re not supposed to wear yukata outside of property. It may have just been a translation error, but the English version said please don’t wear yukata off property. There was a yukata matsuri and a lot of local hotel guests wore yukata outside the property. I think I was 1 of 2 gaijin at the hotel-I love it when there are very few of us.? Next time I’ll ask the staff. (hopefully in Japanese) Really nothing there to not like.

We absolutely loved our stay at Yukinohana in Yuzawa! This hotel beautifully blends traditional Japanese culture with modern comforts, creating a truly memorable experience. The staff were exceptionally kind and helpful, making us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. It was the thoughtful little details throughout the hotel that really stood out — things like reading glasses at the front desk for guests who forgot theirs, complimentary ice creams, cozy Japanese lounge wear, traditional Japanese coffee drip setups in the rooms, and so much more. Every touch added to the feeling of true hospitality. One of our favorite parts was relaxing in the onsen pools after long days of skiing — it was pure bliss. The hotel's location is also fantastic, set in a charming little village that offered just the right mix of convenience and local atmosphere. Plus, the easy access to the bullet train made getting there and exploring the area incredibly smooth. We would absolutely come back to Yukinohana and can't recommend it highly enough for anyone looking for an authentic yet modern Japanese experience in Yuzawa!

Beautiful hotel. Very spacious room for families with 4 beds, and a separate bedroom. However it’s a little on the expensive side as they charge per person, but it’s worth it. Great location and very welcoming staff. The private onsen are amazing so I was able to enjoy it with my family.

    A little expensive for Yuzawa

    9TimothyPosted on: 4-19-2025

Traditional ryokan with excellent food. Very good location. Near Echigo Yuzawa station and right across a ski rental shop. Very friendly staff

    10HenryPosted on: 4-17-2025

    Exceptional

Limited facilities for drying snow equipment like gloves and outerwear. The room available for drying was only really available for boots and snowboards

    8GrantPosted on: 3-21-2025

Lovely room, fantastic breakfast, beautiful onsen. Attentive staff. Extras ie hot drinks in room, yakult in am, ice creams and Ramen in evening is a nice touch.

    Drying room facilities lacking, expensive.

    9GeorgePosted on: 2-24-2025

Amazing facilities and beautiful hotel. Room was warm and had many details that made it very convenient. The baths were excellent and provided good recovery after a crazy weather weekend. Nice little extras like late night ramen and onsite bar. Location was really close to ski hire, the station and a shuttle bus stop

We weren't told that we had to reserve breakfast by 6pm even though we arrived at 9am to drop luggage off. Not sure how we were supposed to know unless we missed something.

Wow! What an amazing experience, this is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in! Convenient location right next to the train station and a short walk to the chair lift, makes this hotel an ideal location for a short ski trip from Tokyo. The rooms were large, modern and spacious with lovely traditional details throughout, and great views across the mountains. The Onsen was beautiful and the whole hotel was very clean and exceptionally maintained. After finishing in the Onsen, the complimentary ice cream was a lovely added bonus. Would recommend to anyone visiting Japan for a luxury stay for a short weekend skiing!

I liked the tatami-style room and the design of the mini bar. The mini bar is a very unique facility that was provided in the standard double room and the family room, allowing us to make our morning breakfast and coffee without the need to run into the toilet for fresh water constantly.

The standard double room was on the smaller side and the lack of a dehumidifying/drying facility posed some challenges to us when we had a very wet snow day. Our clothes didn't completely dry in the night.

    9AlicePosted on: 2-4-2025

Great location. Elegant environment. Nice and friendly service. Free but delicious ramen at night. Free snacks, drink, and water every day. Awesome!

No coin landary. A bit, just a bit expensive for a solo traveller

    10WeiPosted on: 2-2-2025

Everything is so perfect! A very comfy and clean Japaneses style hotel, we love it a lot! The snack bar on the 6th floor is a perfect match after having hot spring and the breakfast is quite good as well. Location is quite good, 3-5mins from Echigo Yuzawa station by walk only. We will certainly come back again.

Meal were scrumptious and portion were big enough.

Bed and pillows were too hard. No shower in private Onsen.

    8EricPosted on: 1-9-2025

Breakfast was great! Delicious Japanese breakfast. Coffee available in room and at the entrance to the restaurant.

Room had packaged unground coffee beans, and has hand-powered coffee grinder, which is unique, and cute I suppose, but I would have preferred packaged ground coffee...or even good instant.

    10YingPosted on: 1-6-2025

Absolutely loved our stay here! We came during the snow season and there were free shuttles to and back from the slopes right next to the ryokan. Inside the ryokan, there are 3 private onsens so the wait wasn’t long at all - we managed to try all 3 private onsens during our stay. The ryokan also provided free yakult, desserts and ramen at different times of the day. We also had free yukata rentals that we could wear in the lounge area and to the onsens. The ryokan also has a bar inside!

Nothing - we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here!

Family of 4 pax with 2 children age 5&7. We love our stay very much! Hotel is really near train station, theres free shuttle service too. Hotel is really clean, every guests are required to take off shoes and they even cleaned our luggage wheels upon entering, i love the concept. However the area for us to wear shoes is small hence it can be quite of a hassle when it is crowded. There’s free yukata rental, free drinks at the lobby, popsicle and ramen (within specific time). Hotel has everything we need and we had a great time relaxing. Our room is really spacious with a traditional bath tub my kids enjoyed alot. Kids also have their own separate room to sleep, love this privacy. We went for public bath, private bath, it such a great place to unwind after a day of snow play. The breakfast and dinner kaiseiki spread were sumptuous. It was an excellent stay and we highly recommend anyone to try it! Do remember to book in advance!

Great location and friendly staff. But extension of service could be better especially when customers in need.

We came here twice in 2024 and they serve the same food. Would really enhance the experience if they change the menu a bit

    10AntonPosted on: 12-24-2024

The beautifully created traditional aspect of the hotel combined with the proficient, always attentive and courteous staff made this a stay of wonder and discovery. The wonderful amenities in the room, the decor and quality of fittings, the propertie’s onsen ( health spa) and an amazingly well presented traditional breakfast, all combined to make it very special

More food options / The bar being open at earlier timings.
